In the process, he falls for the convict’s lover. Conflict, danger, deceit, seduction and betrayal ensue. *** 1969, Lately, Floride. MACY GRAY (Anita) is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. Her latest album, “Covered,” made its debut in the spring of 2012. Gray is currently putting the finishing touches on her version of Stevie Wonder’s iconic album “Talking Book,” with an eye on an autumn release. Though a multi-talented entertainer, Gray is perhaps best known for her international hit single, “I Try,” taken from her multi-platinum debut album “On How Life Is.” However, Gray has appeared in a number of films including Lee Daniels’ directorial debut, Shadowboxer, in 2005. More recently, she starred in Tyler Perry’s ensemble piece For Colored Girls, opposite Whoopi Goldberg, Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose and Phylicia Rashad, among many others. Gray will next be seen in the crime film Percentage, starring Ving Rhames and George Katt. Other acting credits for the busy performer are Training Day, Spider-Man, Scary Movie 3, Around the World in 80 Days, The Crow: Wicked Prayer, Domino and Idlewild. Gray also appeared in the HBO movie “Lackawanna Blues” and guest-starred on ABC’s one-hour drama “MDs.” Since her 1999 debut Gray has released five albums. She has also collaborated with such artists as Carlos Santana, on the track “Amore (Sexo).” Her song “Time of My Life” was featured on the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed film 8 Mile. She was the only female artist with a song on the 8 Mile soundtrack. Gray also recorded “Cell Block Tango (He Had It Comin’)” with Queen Latifah and Lil Kim for the Academy Award-winning musical Chicago. “Beauty in the World,” the first single from her fifth album, “The Sellout,” was featured in the series finale of the ABC hit “Ugly Betty.”
